The concept

Sudoku-Ball extends the 2D samurai Sudoku to closed 3D objects such as cubes, spheres and other geometric shapes. This adds a challenging  new dimension to the Sudoku puzzle as not only you have to solve each individual Sudoku by its inter logic but you also have to take the adjacent Sudokus into account to solve the entire puzzle.

How complex this may look the game allows playing levels from easy for kids to difficult for the true experts.

Patent registered 2007: P77184NL00

In general 3D networks are possible from a geometric point of view and Sudoku logic point of view. A two or three Sudoku closed network is geometrically possible, but conflicts with the Sudoku logic.

The first Sudoku-Ball™ contains 14 Sudokus symmetrical networked together. It has a challenging design and is an attractive product when printed as

  • beach ball
  • soccer ball
  • basket ball
  • small ball for children

The design of the grid network follows from a multi surface shaped 3D body with 10 squares and 4 trapeze (each trapeze is 2 triangles) . The 14 Sudokus are placed on these surfaces such that folding the model to the 3D shape gives a closed 3D Sudoku Network. The shape obtained this way is not a ball, but it is symmetric, Sudoku network closed  in all directions and can be transformed to a ball by centered projections.
