The inventor and thinking behind the ball...
The origin of the Sudoku-Ball™ idea comes from the Dutch mathematician and inventor Hans van Briemen (M-Excel) and was further developed in partnership Marcel Lennartz of LenSoft International Ltd. with his team of software engineers and 3D animation experts.
Hans is the person behind the first i-mode Sudoku game on the market, which was developed by Lensoft. After launching the i-mode sudoku game Hans studied the mathematics behind the Sudoku generation process and solving techniques. His brains didn't stop here. He started thinking about advanced Sudoku products by creating Sudoku networks and convert these networks into 3D shapes.
Highlight of the thinking behind the ball...
- started with a 6 Sudoku cube and extended via 9, 12 to a 14 Sudoku sphere using centered projection and geometric calculations.
- Predicting the line crossing angels on the ball and 3D simulate the construction.
-
optical correction to exact mathematics to create sufficient playing surface and recognizable Sudoku squares
-
α,β plots calculated to make low cost printing possible by limited color use.
